about

From 1996 to 2006 Mike Flinn recorded and performed as The Cables, a mostly power pop band that started in San Diego and ended in San Francisco. In August of 1997 The Cables full length debut Five O’clock Shadow was released on bay area indie 11345 records. In 1998 Mike relocated to the San Francisco Bay area. With an ever-changing roster The Cables performed, released material independently, and contributed to a few compilations. In 2008 The Wounded Men took over where The Cables left off. The Wounded Men released their first full length album in 2011. All The East Bay Misses You has fourteen songs that go from No Depression era alt country to lo-fi pop-noir.

This collection is dedicated in loving memory to Nina Nilssen. Nina helped me form what would be the final line up of The Cables. I can only say that her extraordinary talents as a musician and artist were far surpassed by her warmth, grace, and kindness. www.facebook.com/Ninasfund

An extended play (or EP) is a musical recording that contains more music than a single, but is too short to qualify as a full studio album or LP.

Extended Playability was inspired by Markus Moser. Markus found out about The Cables on the 91X FM web site back in 1996. Many years later I received an e-mail from Austria, It was Markus saying hello and asking for a CD.
